A migrant worker, Chandan, was electrocuted in Chennai’s Muthialpet area on Saturday. He touched a live cable while trying to withdraw money from an ATM during Cyclone Fengal’s heavy rain.

Chandan, originally from Odisha, was working at a private showroom in Parrys. As he approached the ATM, he accidentally touched an iron pole near a damaged electrical post. The shock threw him onto the road.

Onlookers quickly helped and rushed him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival.

Cyclone Fengal Causes Flooding in Chennai

Cyclone Fengal made landfall on Saturday, bringing heavy rain to Tamil Nadu. The storm caused widespread flooding, especially in Chennai.

Hospitals, homes, and roads were submerged. Two state-run hospitals in Chromepet were affected, with rainwater entering their premises. Road users struggled as strong winds and heavy rain left many areas underwater.
